PRIVACY NOTICE

Plain words on what this portfolio site collects, why it collects it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Selim Abdulsalam controls this portfolio site at selimabdulsalam.com. References to the controller in this notice mean Selim Abdulsalam as site controller. Data protection enquiries can be sent to [email protected].

2. Information we collect

  • Contact messages: name, email address, and message, plus any business or project details provided, so inquiries can be answered.
  • Spam checks: Cloudflare Turnstile runs a bot check when the form is sent. Its check token is transient and used only to confirm the sender is human.
  • Analytics (only with consent): Google Analytics 4 sets cookies named _ga and _ga_* after opt in. Intended retention: 2 months.
  • Server and CDN logs: Cloudflare, which serves and protects this site, may log technical data such as IP address, pages visited, and timestamps to keep the site safe and running.
  • Tips: tipping is handled by Paystack. The controller receives the tip amount and the email given for the receipt. Card and payment details go to Paystack and never touch this site.

3. How we use it

  • Your consent: analytics cookies and measurement only run after you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. You can take consent back at any time.
  • Steps toward an agreement: when you send an inquiry, I use what you shared to reply and to scope the work.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, stopping spam, and understanding basic use in a privacy friendly way.

4. Cookies and analytics

There are two groups. Strictly necessary items keep the site working: the Turnstile spam check and small local choices such as the theme. Analytics cookies (GA4) load only after "Accept all" is chosen. Choosing "Essential only" keeps analytics off. Consent can be changed at any time by clearing the choice with the site consent control, which shows the banner again.

5. Sharing

Personal data is not sold. These partners process limited data so the site can run:

Tipping is voluntary. A tip is a way to appreciate the work; it is discretionary and non refundable once given, to the extent the law allows, and no goods or services are exchanged for it. Tips help maintain the site. Payment processing is handled by Paystack under its own terms. See the Terms of Use for the full tip terms.

6. Data retention

Inquiry messages are kept as long as needed to reply and to keep basic records of the conversation. Security logs are short lived. Analytics data follows the intended retention of 2 months. Tip records follow what Paystack and basic bookkeeping require.

7. Your rights

Under the NDPA 2023 you may ask for access to your data, rectification of mistakes, erasure, restriction of use, objection to use, portability of data you provided, and withdrawal of consent you gave. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. To exercise any right, write to [email protected] and the request will be answered.

8. Children

The data protection threshold in Nigeria is under 18. This site is not aimed at anyone under 18, and the controller does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If such data is discovered, it is deleted promptly. Visitors under 18 should ask a parent or guardian before contacting the site or sending a tip.

9. International transfers

Hosting and delivery partners may process data outside Nigeria (for example Cloudflare and Google). Where that happens, the controller relies on their standard contractual safeguards and keeps the data shared to what the service needs.

If this notice changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new last updated date.
